It’s a Radical Sabbatical with Sarah Seidelmann!

Being asked to stay at home to do our part in stopping the spread of Covid-19 has had me searching for my own silver lining. After I read Sarah Seidelmann's blogpost, #RadicalSabbatical, I knew I had to ask her to come on the show to talk about it. We discuss taking this forced cosmic time-out to discover a passion that may have been overlooked during our busy day to day lives. Sarah also recommends resting deeply and gives us a tip on how to ground ourselves in our bodies to stay present. From cleaning out closets to finding a new passion to stringing together your own 100 Day Project, this show is guaranteed to lift your spirits. It’s time for your very own #RadicalSabbatical with Sarah & Jane on the Next Room!

Sarah_Seidelmann___1_657950479.jpgSarah Seidelmann was born of two rather Bohemian individuals and raised in the harsh and tundra-like (yet warmish for 6 weeks in the summer) conditions of northern Minnesota with only her sibling Maria Bamford, a successful stand-up comedienne.

She has practiced as a board certified physician specializing in Surgical Pathology at a tertiary care Multispecialty group known for excellence in the Midwest.  While she thoroughly enjoyed her wonderful practice and partners, after 13 years, she felt a strong pull to do transformative work and to be creative again.  By that time, she had four children and life had become “complicated”. She was coached and found it life changing. Hey family decided to right-size their lives by selling off their vacation home and moved from a 6000 square foot house into a lovely, more modest one.  Then, she took a 6 month sabbatical from her job as a physician. She found herself wandering deep into the woods, re-awakening her own deep connection to nature and to herself. At the end of 6 months, she determined that her path was to continue on in the field of personal transformation.

sarah_seidelmann___2_526797032.jpgShe completed Martha Beck’s Coach Training and got certified by Martha herself, who is s a former Harvard Professor and writes the Life Coach Monthly piece for Oprah’s O magazine. She has a deep appreciation for Nature and found many different ways to help others connect to their own brilliance including: Animal Totems (and other shamanism based tools such as journeying and divination), surfing and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku).  First and foremost, she encourages humans to re-discover their own FEEL GOOD and follow it.  It will take you to good places.

About Jane Asher:
