Week of September 6, 2010
Aries – Jupiter retrogrades out of your sign and back into Pisces on Thursday; while this could conceivably slow your roll a little bit, it also might make life feel a little less frenetic. You’ve been operating with the throttle stuck in the “full open” position for a few months now; this is a chance to slow down, moderate your energy, and translate the inspiration that has been flowing to you all summer into a workable program for long-term success. Tuesday’s New Moon in your 6th House encourages you to look back at a time in your life when your fitness, diet, and daily routine were all working synergistically. A technique or perspective from back then could be the spark that helps you recover the energy you need to mount your program for world domination.
Taurus – This would be a good week to spend in the basement – or wherever you keep the bones and relics from your artistic history – leafing through the successes and failures of your creative past. (You might also find yourself looking back at your amours from these eras, too, or you could use your child’s life as a focusing tool.) You’re primed to learn so much about the secret workings of your heart and the deepest desires of your inner child this week, with Mercury retrograde and a New Moon happening in your 5th House. One thing I want you to pay special attention to is the fact that – once enough time has slid under the bridge – you almost always look back and see beauty, courage and romance even in your most abject creative or romantic failures. Can you imagine how your life would change if you used this knowledge to stop judging yourself so harshly and instead apply that same benevolence now?
Gemini – I feel like you’re finally ready to let go of a round-about way of processing your emotions that has eaten up so much of your creative “success power” over the years. Your natural tendency is to rationalize your feelings, and that’s not your fault. With Virgo on the 4th House cusp of your solar chart, you’d rather think about all the permutations and who’s to blame and what needs to change in order for life to get better than you would just feel those damn feelings and get it over with. But something is shifting this week. That may involve taking a trip down memory lane and recognizing how differently things could have turned out if your parents had only had access to some of the wisdom you’ve acquired on your life’s journey. The wonderful thing is that you can stop recreating the lack or emotional hardship of your childhood, simply by being aware of that repeating pattern and being willing to feel the feelings and move through them.
Cancer – I remember reading somewhere that if you write down your inner dialog for seven days in a row, you’ll become enlightened at the end of the week. I tried it once and I think I stuck to the task for parts of three consecutive days before I gave up and followed a particularly juicy thought stream into a 90-page memoir/novel that’s sitting in my files somewhere waiting for me to find the courage to revisit it. What broke me wasn’t the scariness of my thoughts but rather the sheer volume of thoughts running through my mind. I couldn’t keep up! But even though I failed to make it for an entire week, paying such close attention gave me some incredibly valuable insights into how my monkey mind works. You might not choose quite such an extreme method but with a New Moon and Mercury Rx this week in your 3rd House of thoughts and communication, you can’t afford to gloss over or ignore what’s happening in your mental space. What you can learn about your thoughts this week has the power to transform your life in the weeks and months to come.
Leo – Profit from Wednesday’s New Moon – and the ongoing Mercury Rx – in your 2nd House by taking careful notice of the ways in which money is flowing through your life these days. Many of you have made huge strides in earning the money you deserve over the last three years; the energy of August and September is designed to help you consolidate those gains and let go of the limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviors that have kept you from enjoying the abundance that the Universe has in store for you. Notice what you’re doing well this week but also allow yourself to note where you could be doing better. No need to judge yourself – with this energy all you need to do is become aware and Life will magically start to bring solutions your way.
Virgo – You don’t have to like it, but the Universe is delivering you an extremely consistent and focused message: It’s time to drop a facet of your personality that you’ve outgrown. All you need to do to get in touch with this old thing it’s time to let go of is notice where your thoughts are consistently hurting you. As soon as you accept the fact that it’s your own thoughts about (life, circumstances, the other person, etc.) that are to blame for your suffering, and not the person, place or thing itself, you are ready to move into the next level of spiritual power and personal freedom. Wednesday’s New Moon coincides with the last week of this powerful Mercury Retrograde in your sign to help you make this shift.
Libra – Look at this last week of the Mercury Retrograde in your 12th House as a final opportunity to benefit from the difficult Saturn transit of this same area of your chart that started in 2007 and ended a few weeks ago. The 12th House is home to the saboteur archetype, that part of your unconscious mind that tries to protect you from harm by keeping you from growing and evolving. You can tune in to this archetype by noticing the repeating fear thoughts that come into your mind this week. You’ll also notice, if you allow it, that your mind keeps drifting to a disappointment, setback or missed opportunity you experienced in the last three years. Even though you’d rather be through with this episode, you can really empower yourself by revisiting it. Ask your saboteur why s/he is so stuck on this energy. How was s/he trying to help you by keeping you from getting what you wanted? Giving this part of yourself the attention and understanding it craves – and learning about its motives – is a tremendously empowering way to get more of what you want in the future.
Scorpio – Napoleon Hill was the visionary wealth guru of the mid-twentieth century whose work inspired the movie The Secret. Don’t let that turn you off. Although the producers of the movie seemed to get stuck on the more palatable surface part of his philosophy, Napoleon Hill developed his system out of a 25-year mission in which he closely studied 500 of the wealthiest people in the world to learn how their minds worked. One of the foundations of Hill’s philosophy of success was what he called a Definite Major Purpose – an idea or plan “held in your conscious mind through repeated effort and emotionalized by a burning desire for its realization.” Without a definite major purpose, Hill found, you won’t ever live up to your life’s potential. With it, next to nothing can stop you from your objective. Use the New Moon and the ongoing Mercury Retrograde in your 11th House of ideals and dreams for the future this week to formulate your own definite major purpose. Don’t go another week without consciously committing to your soul’s intent.
Sagittarius – Use Wednesday’s New Moon in your 10th House to get really clear about what you want out of your career or how you want to be perceived as a public person. Granted I’m urging you to do this while Mercury is still retrograde in this same part of your chart. Mercury can make it hard to get clear on exactly what you’re supposed to do or who you’re supposed to be going forward, it’s true. But the New Moon is all about addition by subtraction and if you’re willing to sit down with pad and paper this week and consider how you present yourself as a public person, a brand, you’ll find it pretty easy to come up with at least one pattern of waste, misrepresentation or sloppy thinking and communication it’s high time you let go of. This is such a powerful period for redefining the role you play in life. Be willing to invest time looking honestly at yourself and your process.
Capricorn –Wednesday’s New Moon in your 9th House functions as an announcement that it’s time to become aware of and release an old belief that is limiting your ability to create the life you want. This belief seems to involve other people and their supposed power to hold you back, oppress you or influence you away from your best intentions. Although you might be tempted to see that one certain person in your life who is really pushing your buttons as the cause of your malaise, what this week’s New Moon and Mercury Retrograde are trying to show you is that if it weren’t this person it would be someone – or something – else. Look back over your relationship history and you’ll see that even though the personal identity changes, the pattern of using others to sabotage yourself remains consistent. The great news? All you have to do is name the pattern and take responsibility for changing it, and you’re on your way to taking a much more powerful – and wiser – stance in life.
Aquarius – You might be just about at your wit’s end dealing with people who owe you money, want more from you than you’re willing to give, or fail to follow through on their promises. With a New Moon and Mercury retrograde in your 8th House of shared resources this week, you’re being challenged to recognize a long-term pattern of giving your power away in your relationships, and to set some healthy boundaries in this area of your life. You’ve often rationalized this pattern as the price of your being a servant of the higher good, but it’s time to get real honest with yourself: over-giving to someone who needs to learn self-sufficiency is just enabling an energy addiction. And that is not creating good karma for you or for anyone else. Focus on what it feels like to be in energetic integrity in all your relationships this week. You’re so close to mastering this major life lesson!
Pisces – You’ve been getting more opportunities to practice that ‘healthy boundaries’ thing than you ever could have wished for with Mercury retrograde in your 7th House of relationships the last couple weeks. Mercury returns to direct motion at the end of the week but you might feel as if you’re being tested to your limit as the New Moon in Virgo arrives on Tuesday night. New Moons always ask us to let go of the old and make room for the new and this New Moon in your partnership house is asking you to get serious about exercising energetic integrity in your relationships. You can’t afford to allow yourself to be drained by energy vampires, greedheads and others who are too lazy to make their own connection to the Divine and would prefer to suck your energy instead. If someone isn’t willing to accept that “no” means “no,” he or she may have to go.
