Boosting Your Immune System with Jean LaMantia

Mel sits down with Jean LaMantia, a 20 year hodgkins lymphoma survivor and a registered dietitian. Jean talks about the importance of integrating a good diet nutrition into your routine during treatment, as well as into survivorship. Jean has written a cookbook The Essential Cancer Treatment Nutrition Guide Cookbook. On her website you can download the Immune Boosting Quickstart guide, as well as the Immune System Training guide and be a part of her innovative nutrition chat room.

Let me explain by sharing a little of my, Jean LaMantia, story with you and you’ll also see that no matter what path you’re walking – whether as a current cancer patient, a survivor, caregiver, concerned friend or family member, or a ‘student’ of nutrition or health…I’ve walked (and for that matter, continue to walk) the same path you do.

You see, as a Registered Dietitian and Program Leader at the Wellspring Cancer Support Agency in Toronto, Ontario, providing nutritional education in the form of lectures and cooking demonstrations. As the author of “The Essential Cancer Treatment Nutrition Guide and Cookbook”, and editor of the Canadian Dietitian Oncology Network Newsletter.

And also a cancer survivor myself…I’ve spent my entire adult life collecting, analyzing, and distilling an incredible amount of knowledge about nutrition, about cancer, and about that area where the two overlap. And I’ve applied that knowledge in my own life, and the lives of countless others. I’ve been both a patient (during my battle with the disease) and a caregiver (during my father’s).
