The Power of Love, A Tribute to Paris Delane

This show is dedicated to my dear Friend, Paris Delane, who died suddenly on Friday, February 28, 2020. The legendary Voice of Paris Delane touched each and every Heart that heard him. He lived his Life demonstrating the Power of Love, Kindness, Enthusiasm and Inclusion.

Paris wrote, composed, engineered, produced, performed and created with infectious enthusiasm all with the focus of each of his songs being Love, Forgiveness, Inclusion, and Peace. Paris Delane was also an extraordinary healer, who changed the lives of countless individuals, and was the inspiration behind the abilities of the character, John Coffey in the movie, The Green Mile. The actor who played John Coffey, was Paris' late brother, Michael Clarke Duncan.

As one of the founding members of "Sonia Dada" he traveled the world, bringing his deep, powerful voice to the stage with his multi-talented fellow musicians, singers and arrangers. Paris shared the stage with other musical greats such as  Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood and Traffic, Tower Of Power, and The Allman Brothers. Paris has opened and shared the stage with other great performing legends, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Bruce Hornsby, Funky Meters, Peter Gabriel, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, the great late Rick Danko of The Band, and the great late Muddy Waters, to mention only a few!

Once you heard the voice of Paris Delane, you were changed. I am forever grateful to have Paris Delane in my Life, and to call him my Friend.

The presence of Paris Delane on stage is so overwhelming It an experience one does not forget. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, in a neighborhood where statistically young black men didn't live past the age of sixteen, Paris Delane found himself in his music. His mother Lillian put a guitar in his hands at eight years old and by the time he was nine, he had begun to write his own songs. As Paris discovered life through a young boys eyes, he was influenced musically through his mother Lillian, who sang with legnedary gospel singer Albertina Walker. Lillian made two recordings, Great is the Lord and I'm a child of the King. She kept company with people like Jessie Dixon, Rev. Maceo Woods, Harold White and the late Miss Evelyn Gaye who was Marvin Gaye's cousin.
