Helping Children Cope with Divorce with Dr. Natasha Kendal

Roughly half of American children will witness their parents' marriage end in divorce. And yet, only a third of these kids will show negative reactions and adverse outcomes in the areas of education, emotional disorders and behavioral problems. Dr. Terri talks with Dr. Natasha Kendal about what factors contribute to children's successful adjustment to divorce, and what factors contribute to anxiety, depression, learning problems, aggression and other issues.

She specializes in working with individuals, couples and families in transition – from marriage to divorce; from being a couple to becoming parents; from anxiety, depression, and emotional instability to mental health and happiness.

Dr. Kendal is the only provider of private intensive home-based parent coaching in Michigan. She believes that when her clients (especially children) feel safe and comfortable in their own homes, change in emotional health and subsequent behavior change follow very quickly. When necessary in cases of separation and divorce, Dr. Kendal travels to homes of both parents in order to facilitate the process of co-parenting. Dr. Kendal has authored several articles, taught numerous graduate-level classes in counseling and finance, and has appeared on both TV and Internet programs to discuss family and money issues.
