I’m a long-time health writer. I’m also the daughter, niece, granddaughter, cousin, and best friend to people who’ve faced the beast. And in September 2009 I became a cancer survivor myself. I had myself diagnosed as a gonner, even before I had my first round of A/C. I’d gotten on the Internet, and all the data floating out there just rocked me. There are definitely good websites for survivors, but you can only get so much from cyberspace. We need good doctors, family and friends to help us through our individual, very personal circumstances.

I started 1uponcancer.com for one more place to hear the positive. You will only find the good news here! Please visit to learn about survivors and organizations doing incredible things. To learn about promising research. To read about lifestyle choices to cut your chance for recurrence. Visit to find “Freebies for Cancer Patients” and other resources. And if you want a good laugh, click on the “Neither Here Nor There” link. Welcome and I hope you come back often.

About Mel Majoros:

Mel Majoros, currently in remission, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. On a lucky break after her cancer surgery she was offered a job as a producer on a local talk sports show in Michigan where she advocates about cancer and other health related topics. During that time she started blogging and her blog www.Thecancerwarrior.blogspot.com has been named one of the top ten breast cancer blogs by blogs.com. She brings a unique perspective to being a survivor, always keeping a positive attitude and an athletes mentality for dealing with cancer and survivorship.
