The most painful news a mother could ever receive is that her child has cancer. I NEVER thought I would receive news like this and when I did I felt helpless and lost in a sea of worry and lack of control. Other then educating myself on David's disease and caring for him and loving him there was little I could do to make a difference. And then I learned about St. Baldrick's and I realized I could chose to be bald. I could chose to commit my life to raising money and awareness to support the fight and change the course of cancer in children. Specifically Neuroblastoma. A disease that little is known about and the life expectancy is terrible and unacceptable. The treatment itself can kill a child. I can't live with myself if I don't commit myself to change. I know David will die of this disease, but I also know I can make a difference for future families. So I am choosing to be bald-to make a statement to the world. To remind everyone that our children do get sick and die of cancer. To shock friends, family, strangers into action. To STAND UP and FIGHT the way that David fights each day to stay on this Earth.
