Mel gets the tables turned on her as she is interviewed by  fellow cancer survivor Betsy De Parry about her segments on the PBS series A Wider World.  Filmed at the University of Michigan, the cancer segments of A Wider World featured Mel as well as other survivors and doctors detailing their experience with cancer.  The show can be seen on PBS as well as on youtube.

Betsy De ParryBetsy lives and works with her husband Alex in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Betsy has also spoken to several groups and organizations and been interviewed on NPR and featured in The New York Times. She recently collaborated with the Lymphoma Foundation of America to produce and host a series of educational webcasts, and she works on various projects with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Betsy also serves as the Michigan delegate for LLS' Delegates Summit in Washington, and she frequently advocates for public policies that affect cancer research and treatment.  She also serves on the Patient Advocacy Advisory Board of the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

She recently wrote a short version of her illness and recovery for Voices of Survivors and was the subject of a documentary which aired on PBS on June 1, 2010.

About Mel Majoros:

Mel Majoros, currently in remission, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. On a lucky break after her cancer surgery she was offered a job as a producer on a local talk sports show in Michigan where she advocates about cancer and other health related topics. During that time she started blogging and her blog www.Thecancerwarrior.blogspot.com has been named one of the top ten breast cancer blogs by blogs.com. She brings a unique perspective to being a survivor, always keeping a positive attitude and an athletes mentality for dealing with cancer and survivorship. Prior to working in radio Mel was a 10 year veteran of the television industry working on such shows as Walker, Texas Ranger and Crossing Jordan.
