February 4, 2011 - Jonny Imerman 

Jonny Imerman was 26 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  While he was going through treatment he sought out other young adult survivors.  Unable to find any he founded Imerman Angels, a one-on-one cancer support group that matches a person touched by cancer or a person battling, or who has battled, the same type of cancer.  Jonny started Imerman Angels in 2003 with just a handful of survivors.  Now the organization is 4,000 strong and growing.

Jonny Imerman

Jonny Imerman is the founder of Imerman Angels. While fighting cancer at 26 years old, Jonny had loving support from family and friends, but never met anyone his age who was a cancer survivor. He wanted to talk to someone just like him, someone who truly understood and remembered - someone who had already beaten the same type of cancer. Today, Imerman Angels provides that gift for cancer fighters. Imerman Angels introduces each cancer fighter to one survivor who is the same age, same gender, and someone who has already beaten that particular type of cancer. A cancer survivor would be an angel - walking, talking, living proof to inspire the fighter that he/she can beat cancer. This was the beginning of Jonny's vision. In 2003, Imerman Angels was founded.

About Mel Majoros:

Mel Majoros, currently in remission, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. On a lucky break after her cancer surgery she was offered a job as a producer on a local talk sports show in Michigan where she advocates about cancer and other health related topics. During that time she started blogging and her blog www.Thecancerwarrior.blogspot.com has been named one of the top ten breast cancer blogs by blogs.com. She brings a unique perspective to being a survivor, always keeping a positive attitude and an athletes mentality for dealing with cancer and survivorship. Prior to working in radio Mel was a 10 year veteran of the television industry working on such shows as Walker, Texas Ranger and Crossing Jordan.
