The Past, Present, and Future of Women and Power with Tiffany Shlain

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal…”  When you hear this one sentence drafted over 240 years ago, do you think of equal rights or unfinished business for the constitution? Some say, “We’ve come a long way, baby!” as women; others say, not so much. Out of 57 elections in the U.S. there has never been a female Commander in Chief, nor have women had equal rights under the law. But things are changing around the world. In fact, some statistics may surprise you! Listen in as Emmy-nominated filmmaker, Tiffany Shlain, talks about her latest project 50/50.

Tiffany Shlain is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and founder of The Webby Awards. Her films and work have received over 80 awards and distinctions including a Disruptive Innovation Award from Tribeca Film Festival and NPR’s list of best commencement speeches. She closely follows the latest developments in technology, neuroscience, feminism and footwear. Four of her films have premiered at Sundance, including her feature documentary “Connected,” and “The Tribe,” which explores American Jewish identity through the history of the Barbie doll.  The US State Department selected four of her films for The American Film Showcase. As a speaker, Tiffany has presented at Harvard, NASA, and was the closing speaker for both TEDWomen and TEDMED. Her original series “The Future Starts Here” has received over 40 million views. She is co-founder of Character Day, a global annual event for schools and organizations on the science of character and that had over 90,000 events in 125 countries. Her new film “50/50: Rethinking the Past, Present & Future of Women + Power” premiered at TEDWomen and Refinery29. About Dr. Julie Krull:

Her 30-year career blends the pragmatic teachings of Western psychology with inter-faith spiritual insight, her intuitive gifts, and an experiential understanding of energy and mind/body medicine. This compelling combination empowers clients, groups, organizations, and audiences to develop intentional, co-creative practice, aligned with spirit, attuned to heart, in harmony with nature, and in resonance with others. Dr. Julie is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. She is a Reiki Master, Certified Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator, Spiritual Director, and Certified Wellness Coach. She has studied extensively with Barbara Marx Hubbard and is a Mentor for Agents of Conscious Evolution. Dr. Julie is founder of Generative Alliance, LLC, co-founder of Good of the Whole, and hosts The Dr. Julie Show: All Things Connected. She is the author of the forthcoming book Fractured Grace.
