Lisa Hilleren, professional trainer and author, uses her writing talents to empower women to achieve their personal transformation goals. After witnessing the hugely positive results that business leaders gained from her emotional intelligence educational programs and classes, she asked herself, “Why not use what I know to improve my own personal life?” Fast-forward fifteen years and her debut novel, Reconstructing Eve, has received 5-star raves from reviewers and heartfelt testimonials from readers, and inspired the creation of ReconstructingEve.com - the premier gathering place for women to meet and support one another on their self-discovery journeys.
 
Why choose fiction as a learning tool? As a trainer, Lisa knows the power of storytelling in the learning process. However, she also understands adult learners’ attention spans average about twenty minutes. A book can hold a reader’s attention for hours.  “The emotional attachment to the heroine parallels what individuals experience when they use visualization techniques to work through challenges or explore ideas and dreams,” Lisa explains. “In bonding with my heroine, the reader experiences my character’s emotions as if they were her own. In doing so, she too is transformed--either by a new perspective or by following the story’s call to action after she closes the book.”
 
In addition to her fiction writing, Lisa hosts on-line seminars and blogs about how to use emotional intelligence (EQ) as a road map to becoming your authentic self.  “Until I discovered how to apply emotional intelligence to my personal life, I stumbled around for years trying to figure it out who I really was,” Lisa says. “I have no regrets about my journey, but if I’d known then what I know now, I could have spared myself the frustration of trying and failing, and having to start back at square one a hundred times over.” In addition to her training experience with emotional intelligence, Lisa is a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) practitioner.  She’s quick to say that her experience doesn’t make her the authority on the subject of personal transformation; she sees herself as an advocate, and says what she brings to the table are options--not answers. “Only we know what’s best for us,” she says. “The purpose of the Reconstructing Eve community is to share wisdom and encouragement to help women individually and collectively grow.” 
 
Lisa and her husband Paul live in New Jersey with their two excitable pugs and one, long-suffering beagle. Lisa admits that Daisy, the pug in Reconstructing Eve, is a thinly-veiled version of her dog Phoebe. When asked about the similarities between herself and her character Eve, Lisa grins and says, “We shared the same determination to ‘Have your apple and your Eden, too.’ And we both succeeded.”
