Mr. Awesome from The Next Room with Carla Kaufman Sloan

cc_awesome_798829953.jpgThis week, on The Next Room it is another stunning connection made through Camille Dan’s Afterlife Anthology, that will be out this Summer. Carla is also a contributor on this project with Jane and 40 other writers who came together to share their stories, all in the name of raising money for various grief organizations. Carla an Emmy winning writer and television producer will share her story about the tragic accident that caused both her and her husband to create their own non-profit, the Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation.  Carla’s story although beginning with an unthinkable tragedy is now inspiring the world to be awesome in her sons names.  This is a show that will connect you with seven year old Calder who’s mission is to help disadvantaged children as well as children who are dealing with grief and loss. The Foundation is equally as devoted to benefitting those kids in need as they are in inspiring people, especially children, with the joys of service before self. ADVENTURE LAUGHTER, and KINDNESS is their mantra.  Please join Carla and Jane and discover Mr. Awesome from The Next Room.

Carla_1_354265127.jpgCarla Kaufman Sloan is an Emmy winning writer and television producer with three decades of experience in creating, writing, and developing TV shows, in-studio production and delivery, and helming major television network content in New York and Los Angeles. As a young Jewish girl from New Orleans (a.k.a a Jew from the Bayou), being accepted to New York University was an impossible dream that came true. While executive producing national primetime game shows for ABC and Warner Brothers/ Telepix in LA, Carla accepted a marriage proposal from Chris Sloan, a TV executive, and as a couple they launched our own production company on the opposite coast. 2C Creative became a rapidly growing content and award winning production company in Miami with a client base including A&E, HBO, TNT, Discovery Channel, FOX, Nickelodeon, and more. With her career goals rocketing forward, it seemed the perfect time to have a baby. Blue eyed, adventure-loving Calder Jacob, arrived in 2007, followed 18 months later by a little brown-eyed talented attention-getter, Caleb Finzi. Carla didn’t fully realize it at the time, but she was living the dream. Seven years later, everything changed. Months after the tragic accident that took Calder’s life, Carla and her husband co-established Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation  to help children in need, prioritizing kids who have suffered the loss of a parent or sibling. The foundation has grown significantly since 2015 to serve hundreds of thousands of people. In addition to choosing to step back into a full daily life of work, mothering and community outreach.  Carla is also studying and practicing her mediumship ability to connect and deliver messages to those in grief from the loss of a loved one. Carla’s interest in expanding her spiritual outlook on life grew from the incredible comfort and confirmation of my son’s presence that she received, first through professional mediums, and now regularly.  Carla is also a certified Reiki Master.

About Jane Asher:

Jane Asher has always been a natural connector who has enjoyed a successful career in media and the music industry, most notably at major radio stations in San Diego and Santa Barbara. Several years ago, she stepped away from terrestrial radio when Empower Radio reached out and asked her to create a show about her passion. The Next Room podcast was born.

Demystifying death daily, she interviews professionals and practitioners from diverse backgrounds about death, dying, grief, beliefs and cultural traditions surrounding the journey we all must ultimately make. The show airs across 11 platforms and has connected her with extraordinary people throughout this community. The Next Room has recently become the official podcast of the Beautiful Dying Expo.

Jane is also passionate about being involved in mission work. She has been part of a team for over five years that has built homes in Tijuana for families in need through Lutheran Border Concerns. She has traveled to El Salvador to feed the homeless, Malaysia to help build a school on Borneo, and Armenia to work with women and children in the small village of Amre Taza. Most recently, she was on a humanitarian mission in the Dominican Republic.

Her book, The Next Room is a story transcending space and time, of a relationship between mother and daughter that grew stronger through death. Written together, by initially enlisting interpretation through a psychic medium, The Next Room takes us on a daughter's journey through learning eternal life lessons on forgiveness, grief, grace, gratitude, and the limitless love of all, God.

Jane lives in San Diego with her husband, Tom. She is now answering her passion-filled purpose and writing daily alongside her puppy and muse, Mamba.
