Evolve Beyond Grief with Susan Kendal

Another connection made through Camille Dan’s afterlife collaboration book project. Susan Kendal has navigated major loss of male role models and best friends. Susan has had to grieve her brother-in-law, beloved husband, kind father and her two big brothers.  Susan made a choice to evolve beyond her grief. This positive shift took her from the practical life experience of loss, to education and certification in grief coaching. She offers free zoom classes to anyone who may need them. Susan is living proof that we can Evolve Beyond Grief on The Next Room!

Susan_Kendal_505782731.jpegOn May 20, 2014, Susan’s world came crashing down. Her 54-year old husband passed of a sudden heart attack. The years since have been a whirlwind of emotion, trauma & joy (yes, joy, thanks mostly to the birth of her grandchildren).

Over the next five years, Susan experienced additional heartache following the death of her dad & both of her brothers.

She coupled her vast experiential knowledge with education and became a coach and grief educator. In addition, she began a social media platform, blogs for an international widows’ community and has been featured on podcasts, tv, radio and print.

Her message:

Let’s shatter the taboo surrounding death.

Too many who grieve do so alone. We are a death-illiterate society. We squirm and avoid talking about death at all costs. And the costs, both emotional and mental are tremendous.

Susan speaks up on behalf of the bereaved. She does this by sharing her personal story and educating about death and grief to all who want to better understand how to help and become more comfortable among the bereaved.

Through education and dialogue, she is determined to shatter the final taboo – death & grief.

Join the conversation.

About Jane Asher:

Jane Asher has always been a natural connector who has enjoyed a successful career in media and the music industry, most notably at major radio stations in San Diego and Santa Barbara. Several years ago, she stepped away from terrestrial radio when Empower Radio reached out and asked her to create a show about her passion. The Next Room podcast was born.

Demystifying death daily, she interviews professionals and practitioners from diverse backgrounds about death, dying, grief, beliefs and cultural traditions surrounding the journey we all must ultimately make. The show airs across 11 platforms and has connected her with extraordinary people throughout this community. The Next Room has recently become the official podcast of the Beautiful Dying Expo.

Jane is also passionate about being involved in mission work. She has been part of a team for over five years that has built homes in Tijuana for families in need through Lutheran Border Concerns. She has traveled to El Salvador to feed the homeless, Malaysia to help build a school on Borneo, and Armenia to work with women and children in the small village of Amre Taza. Most recently, she was on a humanitarian mission in the Dominican Republic.

Her book, The Next Room is a story transcending space and time, of a relationship between mother and daughter that grew stronger through death. Written together, by initially enlisting interpretation through a psychic medium, The Next Room takes us on a daughter's journey through learning eternal life lessons on forgiveness, grief, grace, gratitude, and the limitless love of all, God.

Jane lives in San Diego with her husband, Tom. She is now answering her passion-filled purpose and writing daily alongside her puppy and muse, Mamba.
