"From a very young age, I thought that there was something wrong with me that needed fixing. In Sheryl Frauenglassmy family, I took on the label of being the “good girl” and lived in the shadows of my parents and brother, who I perceived to be smarter, more beautiful, faster, more coordinated, and better than me in every way. I spent years looking to improve, change or alter what I labeled my many defects. I tried every diet, read the latest self-help books, tried psychotherapy, rebirthing therapy, co-counseling therapy. I attended workshops to “open the heart”, “heal the inner child”, “discover my true self”. I joined Jews for Jesus, became a Unitarian, studied, Buddhism, was initiated into TM at 14, went to Synagogue to explore my Jewish roots and practiced yoga. I was always looking for the next teacher or guru, who I was certain, had the answer on how to fix me and make me whole.

Things finally started to turn around a few years ago, when, through a series of challenging experiences, I began to remember my connection to the God/Creation/Universe and to know myself deeply. As I opened up, I experienced a sense of total freedom and realized that I was a sovereign being, with my own unique gifts, and that the only guru I needed was ME! I realized that I was already whole and complete and that I didn’t need fixing. Every morning I wake up with excitement and curiosity for what the Universe has in store for me."

About Cheryl Maloney:

Cheryl first started writing a blog in 2009 when she was an out-of-work, out-of-shape, over-fifty corporate executive, collecting unemployment, questioning her own worth, dealing with her husband Jack’s scary health diagnoses and beating herself up for the stupid financial mistakes she had made.

After months of writing daily, she started posting her thoughts on Facebook in March 2009. Believing she was not alone in her challenges … she came to realize was that there are more people dealing with some major issue in their lives than expected. Simple Steps Real Change posts have been viewed over fifty million times.  Now they know that they are not alone either!

Her book, “Simple Steps for Real Life” was released in 2012 along with “Simple Inspirations, a collection of original quotes and images by her late husband, photographer, Jack Maloney.  She is also the author of “Simple Steps… Real Change, the Book” which is available on her website.
